Without labeling Taming a "support" skill, the fact remains that Tamers only need 2 skills, Taming and Lore (so there's really no such thing as a "pure" Tamer, afaic). It sounded like people advocating for a Taming buff were comparing damage from their pets alone, without taking into consideration the fact that their character too would normally be contributing DPS to any given fight. I agree with Three Man, I followed most of the Taming discussion on Discord and never understood the DPS comparisons. This is possible because the baseline damage of mages and dexxers is high, making the supporting skills unnecessary. Taming is now a support skill for mages and dexxers, which augment those templates better than their own supporting skills. There are not many supporting skills for tamers, and tamers are now doing far less damage as a baseline. The argument could be made that the taming template didn't use discordance, but doing so would result in losing at least one of the following (that a dexxer would have): self healing, weapon skill, a damage increase skill that also provides utility Pure tamers are well below (~30%+) dexxers who take discordance in terms of damage.Overall this build is less survivable than wrestle/magery, but not terribly so as it still has a weapon skill and some measure of self healing. If you took forensics, the last skill would likely be magery or healing. Forensics is still available similar to the first build, however this build would actually get increased benefit as opposed to the first build. Substituting herding (20% multiplier to pets) and taking tactics/fencing increased DPS by 65%. 100 str/100 dex, used a exceptional iron war fork. This template is taming/lore/tactics/fencing/vet and has 200 skill points available. Template was stated to be:120 tame/lore/vet/magery/poison/taste/ rest in med Whatever the template was, or why the damage is there, the followers were out-damaged. However, this test is from another source and I am unable to confirm why there is melee damage when the template was stated below as having no melee abilities. This template loses some some survivability without wrestling, but more than doubles the DPS. This is not a traditional "pure dexxer", but is most likely what all dexxers will look like if the shard were to launch today.Īnat/armslore/macing/tactics/disco/music/healing - eminently accurate/force weaponĢ7 DPS overall - real world scenarios on high end content This template was farming some of the highest difficulty monsters, and could easily substitute arms lore for forensics, similar to the build above (and may even perform better). DPS unlikely to change much against higher end things unless the 100 wrestle humans don't actually have 100 defensive ability for some reason. Taming/lore/vet/herding/forensics/wrestle/mageryĥ random level 10 komodos (pure dps traits) vs 18 difficulty human with 100 wrestle 25 AR (GM herding)ġ8 DPS (about average I found) in real world scenarios on lower end content. It also has wrestling and 80 magery, and is close to what many would consider a 'default' tamer build that has some survivability and utility. This template used forensics to gather hides, and so there is some room to increase damage, however a dexxer can more fluidly take this skill as well and will even see more benefit. The template diversity has now shifted quite dramatically, and once people catch on, I believe it will provide far less overall diversity than before, on top of pigeonholing people into templates that are super easy prey to PKs.įor a more analytical breakdown of the issue, please see the below numbers. It would not be as effective to simply "add" either of these to taming if they required all of these other support skills to increase dps. Player Spell damage values against creatures is now 300% of normalīecause of these two changes, the best template by a mile is any combo of raw dex abilities or raw magery abilities + taming.Player Weapon damage values against creatures is now 200% of normal. The reason for that seems to be the direct PVM scalars that are done based on raw weapon damage and raw spell damage, rather than multipliers from supporting skills such as evaluate intel and arms lore. So the general issue is that taming is now the best support skill in the game, and it isn't its own template.
